World Hearing Day is observed every year on March 3 to raise awareness about hearing loss and promote ear and hearing care. This global initiative is organised by the World Health Organisation (WHO), and its purpose is to highlight the importance of protecting hearing and preventing hearing loss, as well as to share information on the latest strategies, technologies, and resources for managing hearing issues.

Each year, the WHO focuses on a specific theme related to hearing health. The theme often emphasises various aspects of ear health, such as prevention, early detection, and access to treatment and rehabilitation services for people with hearing loss.

Key objectives of World Hearing Day:

  1. Raise awareness about the importance of hearing health.

  2. Promote the prevention of hearing loss through practices such as limiting exposure to loud noises and using hearing protection.

  3. Encourage early detection and intervention for hearing loss.

  4. Advocate for better access to hearing care and services, especially in low- and middle-income countries.

  5. Highlight the impact of hearing loss on people's social, emotional, and economic well-being.

In addition to the WHO’s global campaign, many local organisations, Audiologists, health professionals, and schools participate in World Hearing Day by organising events and distributing educational materials.

Let's keep raising awareness about the importance of hearing health.
